Rhinoplasty, commonly referred to as nose surgery, involves reshaping and contouring to correct problems formed by birth defects or injury. Additionally, rhinoplasty can help to correct breathing problems. The surgery is sometimes combined with other facial procedures, such as chin and cheek implants.
During the procedure, one of our Orange County surgeons will make incisions in your nostrils and adjust the bones or cartilage under your skin. From there, the doctor can fix numerous problems, such as a wide nose, large nostrils, a bump on the bridge of your nose, or a hooked nose tip.
Can I benefit from rhinoplasty?
To find out if you are a good candidate for rhinoplasty, schedule a time to talk with one of our Orange County surgeons. The doctor will examine the rest of your facial features to help you determine what look would be best for you. In general, you might be a fit for rhinoplasty if any of the following apply to you:
- Your nose is an unattractive shape due to birth defects or injury
- You suffer from regular breathing problems due to your nose
- Your nostrils are larger than what is typical
- There is a bump on the bridge of your nose
What can I expect after the surgery?
After your surgery, your nose will be sore for several days. Your face will be puffy and your eyes may seem discolored, and you will likely experience slight bleeding and mucus drainage for a few days. Keep your head elevated above your chest for at least the first day following your surgery. Use cold compresses to stay comfortable and talk to your Orange County surgeon about which medications you can use. It might take up to a year to see the full, final results of your rhinoplasty procedure as healing continues.
